State Engineering University of Armenia (Polytechnic) is the leader of national higher technical education. It is famous not only in our country, but also abroad and is well known for its high rating. Since its foundation (1933) up to this day SEUA has had over 110.000 graduates. Today the University, including its 3 regional campuses in Gyumri, Vanadzor and Kapan, has over 10.000 students and about 1.000 full-time faculty members, most of them carrying scientific degrees. 31 majors are offered for the Bachelor of Engineering Degrees, 29 majors offered for the Master of Engineering Degree, 17 majors offered for Engineers-researchers.
  

 Training of specialists of engineering profile for foreign countries at State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA) is a long-standing tradition. In 1958 Yerevan Polytechnic Institute (YPI, SEUA at present) admitted the first Armenian students from the Middle East, whose number increased year by year and the geography expanded. A significant increase in the number of foreign students took place in 1985, when the preparatory division for training the foreign citizens was established at YPI.

Beginning from 1990, because of the USSR collapse and the changes in the political and the economic situation related to it, the number of foreign citizens entering SEUA sharply decreased. But the decrease didn’t last long. Adapting to the changing realities and the new requirements rapidly, SEUA was the first in Armenia to amend its activities by means of a number of reforms. In particular, the implementation of the western stepped educational model, as well as the introduction of training on some required specialties in English played a significant role. The latter fact allowed to increase the number of foreign students up to 500 in 2007. At, present, about 500 students from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Mongholia, Jordan, China, USA, Lebanon, Georgia, Russia and other countries are being trained at SEUA.erospace, and finance.
